A Day of Remembrance

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you've all had a chance to see family, enjoy some delicious food, and remember our soldiers and veterans. I know that being home from college has been fantastic and I greatly enjoyed getting to see my family.

Sunday, my mom and I went to garage sales looking for an end table for my summer in Chicago and for college next fall. We didn't find any, but we did find a pretty legit lamp!

I really like it because of the owls. It was a little (understatement) dusty, so I took some closer up pictures for before and after. I haven't taken the clean pictures yet because I'm not done cleaning, but here is the before pictures.

The big owls at the top...
The baby owls at the bottom...
 And the back...
And the side. Overall it's a really adorable lamp. And it was only five dollars!

We had lunch at my grandmother's, a leftover lunch from a cookout yesterday, and while we were there my sister and my cousin taught me how to do a five strand braid. I also worked on refining my French Braid skills, and then we decided to combine the two and do a five strand French braid! Yeah, I know, challenging right? Because we added the French part to the existing complication of the five strands, we used two people for every braid. It worked out better than that sentence might imply. Here is my hair...

It got a little confusing at the bottom because of my layers (I got my hair cut on Saturday), but otherwise it's pretty good! We also did Charlotte's and Ashley's hair.

This is Charlotte's braid.

And this is Ashley's braid (She doesn't have a blog so I can't link to her).

I have to say, this was definitely a fun Memorial Day Weekend. I'm so thankful that I got to go home to see my family and friends, and I hope you got the same opportunity!

Enjoy the rest of your day!
Jenn
